Diseases thrive in an environment that is too acidic. The average American has a pH of 4.5 - 5.0. Stay neutral by balancing your foods to maintain good health. If you are in a situation with cancer or some other disease you may want to consider a total alkaline diet for a few months to help cleanse your body as disease cannot survive in a highly alkaline body. There are genetic factors and environmental issues that play a role as well but this is a great guide for most.
